Interactive Project

As our last project of the academic year, we were tasked with creating an interactive experience. For this project, I volunteered as Project Manager as I had not been project manager for either of my past projects and I believed that it would be a good opportunity for me to improve on my project management skills. At the end of the project, we would have to showcase our final product at the Transmedia Exhibition where members of the public and guests from the industry can see our work and get an insight into the type of projects we get to work on in our course/pathways. For this project, my group have decided to make an AR game based on the classic game Guess Who? In our game, you scan tokens which will show you a famous landmark in Europe and the aim is to ask your opponent questions from a set of pre-made questions in order to guess their chosen landmark.

My first task for this project was to create a brand for our game to be produced under so I started with researching ideas for a brand name. To find ideas for the name, I decided to use brand name generators which use keywords to create a variety of creative and inventive brand names. As our game is related to landmarks, I looked for names with a geographical theme.

After using multiple brand name generators, I came up with the brand name: Global Reality. I chose this name as the word 'Global' relates to the geographical aspect of our game and 'Reality' relates to our type of game which is Augmented Reality.

Now I have decided on a brand name, my next task was designing the logo for the brand. To find inspiration, I decided to go down the same route as the brand name research and look at AI logo generators. Many of the logos that were generated were minimalistic while including the company name in the logo. This led me to ideas of using the brand name in the logo itself.

Once I had conducted the logo research, I began to design a variety of logos using Procreate on my Ipad. I decided to incorporate circuitry lines around the brand name to link with the technology aspect.

For the second logo, I chose to create the same logo but with a different brand name to experiment with an alternative name which was: Active reality. I decided to stay with my original brand name as I believed that Active Reality only linked with the AR aspect of our game rather than also linking with the geographical aspect.

When I was designing the third logo, I took a different approach by using the circuitry to make the initials of the brand name. In the end, I chose to move away from this idea as it may be difficult for people with impaired vision or other vision related disabilities to distinguish the letters in the logo.

My final logo design was a derivatve of my first logo design. The changes that I made were to change the font to Shrikhand which became our primary font in our brand guidelines and to change the colours to our brand's chosen colours using their hex codes.

Part of my role as Project Manager was to create a time management schedule to help my team manage their individual tasks and to ensure that each person receives the assets they need in order to complete the project in time for the exhibition. As each role may require assets from other team members, it is important to manage the project time to make sure that once someone is given assets, they have a sufficient amount of time to progress onto the next task before needing to start another task.

As part of being a designer, I was tasked with designing some of the buttons which would be used in the UI. I decided to keep the buttons simple so they matched the theme of the UI. The buttons I needed to create were the create room button which would be used to generate a code in order to allow another player join your game and the join game button which, on clicking, would bring you to a screen where you can input a code so you can join the game.

Another UI aspect that I was tasked with designing was the loading screen to tell each player who they were competing against in our game.

At the start of the project, I volunteered to create and manage the social media page for our brand. I decided to use Instagram as our social media outlet as it is currently one of the most used social media platforms by our target audience which is school groups and educators.
